1. University of Coimbra – A UNESCO World Heritage site founded in 1290, featuring the stunning Joanina Library, Royal Palace, and University Tower. 

Hours: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM (March-October), 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (November-February)

2. Machado de Castro National Museum – Portugal’s second-largest museum houses an outstanding collection of sculpture, painting, and decorative arts. 

Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, closed Mondays

3. Fado ao Centro – A cultural center dedicated to Coimbra fado with daily performances and a museum explaining the history of this musical tradition. 

Hours: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM

4. Old Cathedral (Sé Velha) – A Romanesque cathedral dating from the 12th century with excellent acoustics for occasional fado performances. 

Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

5.  Casa do Fado de Coimbra – A small museum dedicated to preserving Coimbra’s unique fado tradition. 

Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, closed Sundays

6. Quinta das Lágrimas – A historic estate linked to the tragic love story of Pedro and Inês, which inspired countless fado songs. 

Hours: Gardens open 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

7. Santa Clara Monastery – Gothic monastery with beautiful gardens and occasional cultural performances. 

Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
